We are located in Northern Minnesota, with the Boundary Waters Canoe Area as our backyard inspiration and testing grounds for our beautiful and lightweight cedar canoes. We have provided some information about our products and services and hope you enjoy paddling half as much as we do!
At Highland Canoe Co. we handcraft each of our canoes out of the finest materials to ensure the highest of quality.
Cedar Strip Canoe Construction
All of our Cedar Strip Canoe's are hand built from western red cedar and beautiful select wood (typically cherry, mahogony, spruce) for the trim. Solid full length strips are used, with no scarf joints. 6 oz. fiberglass cloth and West Systems epoxy for the highest quality. The finished canoe will receive several coats of marine spar varnish with uv inhibitors to ensure a long life with little maintenance.

Cedar and Canvas Canoe Construction
Our Cedar and Canvas Canoes are hand built from white cedar, beautiful select wood (typically cherry, mahogony, spruce)for the trim and tapered white cedar ribs. We pre-seal the entire canoe, before the high quality #10 duck canvas is treated and painted with several coats of enamel. The finished canoe will receive a linseed oil mixture and varnished.
